Stock is of good wood & is # checkered & receiver is blued with nice engraving. # # Regards, # # John Stewart Does your gun say, specifically, Antonio Zoli? Zoli, or maybe Angelo instead of Antonio? I ask because the Antonio Zoli shotguns were VERY expensive, and I can't see Sears selling $1500-2000 and up shotguns! But, I've been wrong before, so. Anyhow, I find no Model 281 listed in my usual sources on shotguns, and most Zoli's came into this country in the 80's and had names instead of models, with few exceptions.
I hope others on this list have better data than I do, as I'm interested too. Angelo Zoli's were decent, reasonably priced shotguns, and I guess Antonio's were even better!

Angelo Zoli's were decent, reasonably priced shotguns, and I guess #Antonio's were even better! # #keith whaley # # There are 5 Sears Model 281.xxxxxx shotguns made by Antonio Zoli, and Angelo Zoli (no relation) made shotguns similarily priced ( Angelo went out of business in 1987, and was taken over by the Bank of Brescia in 1989). There frequently is no distinction between the guns in name between Angelo and Antonio, and many can be found with A. Zoli stamped on them. You have to know the model name to tell the difference.
The parts are not inter changeable, either. Info on moderated group rec.guns is at ALBANYGUN 16/8/1998, 0:00 น. In article, 'John Stewart' writes: #Can anyone tell me the approximate value of an Italian-made 12ga.
O/U #shotgun made by Antonio Zoli? It is a model 281, serial #512651, sold by #Sears, Roebuck & Co., which I bought about 25 years ago. It has #chrome-lined barrels Mod/Full & two triggers. Stock is of good wood & is #checkered & receiver is blued with nice engraving. # # Based on the limited info you have given, Sears did sell o/u made by Antonio Zoli, not to be confused with Angelo Zoli. The Blue Book of Gun Values only lists current production from that company, so I cannot identify the particular model you have. Most of current production o/u similar to yours run about $500 in 98% condition.
My guess if it has Sears name on it, it will be worth less, and the double triggers may bring the price down, too. Parts are available from Cape Outfitters in Cape Girardeau, MO. Info on moderated group rec.guns is at Mike Fetterley 17/8/1998, 0:00 น.
Hello; I am trying to find a set of sky-screens for a Custom Chronograph Co Model 1000 (circa 1970). The sky-screens or light screens as they called them were marked M600. A little history is in order. I purchesed the CCC M 1000 in about 1970. The company was located in Oregon, Oregon City I think, and this was one of their better models. However at the time sky-screens were an expensive option. Most came with the little printed cards and clips.
You know the kind, you have to change two cards for EACH shot. Anyway I purchased what I thought would be a life time supply of the cards. Well that lifetime has turned out to be 20 years. I don't do a lot of load development anymore so I would like to keep this Chrono going. If no sky-screens are available, does anyone know where I might get more of the printed cards?
It is my understanding that the Custom Chronograph Company went out of business in the mid 80's. May be someone knows if they are still in business under an other name? Thanks Mike Scio OR ps Yes I know that I can get one of the new all-in-one Chrono for around a hundred bucks. I just don't see the point of giving up on equipment that still works just because it's old. Info on moderated group rec.guns is at Gary Napolitano 18/8/1998, 0:00 น. Yes, I have a 95%+ Antonio Zoli O/U 12g, double triggers, standard engraving with the full name engraved on it.
It did originally come from Sears, I believe a model 281. Don't know how to date the gun but Sears # conversion charts puts my shotgun at @$1200.00 today. Just because it was sold by Sears does not mean guns are worth less. Their higher end shotguns from late 50's to mid 70's could very well be underrated.
Price a new Zoli today and tell me the stout build and crosslock are the makings of a very fine hunting or collectors pc. I would love more information still.
Recently I saw a Faustini which was heavily engraved but used the same crosslock system which turned into a question, who first designed it to begin with. RussF 9/8/2015, 14:20 น. The description sounds very much like the gun made by Savage Arms back in the 1940s until I don't know when. I know of models 420 and 430 Savage of that description. [email protected], 8:19 น. I have always enjoyed using my silver snipe Antonio Zoli. Funny thing, it seems I now have the actual 281 gun spoken of here with that serial number. It is still very tight and nice looking. I bought it at auction recently and have about $550 in it and I consider it to be very undervalued.
I wish it had single trigger, but sometimes two trigger gives nice choice on longer birds. As far as A Zoli being Antonio Zoli, I do not believe that to be correct, that was a ploy by Angelo to make his guns look better by mimicking Antonio. These guns come to shoulder better than anything else I have ever used except maybe a Wards Western Field deluxe in 16 ga. I have passed on Superposed and actually sold one as I have no use for it, does not handle nearly as nice as any Antonio Zoli. Buy American whenever you can.except maybe for Antonio Zolis! I know some of you guys know I’m an American (I normally live in the Kansas City area) temporarily living in Johannesburg, South Africa on a work assignment. A couple of weeks ago I shot a round of trap at a local club with a few other guys. One of the guys was shooting a gun that looked vaguely familiar. And not surprisingly, because when I had a closer look, it was the same model as the trap gun I shoot.
Antonio Zoli Ritmo Z-90 Trap, 32 inch choke tube barrels. Almost identical to mine except for a few cosmetic differences. Similar, but not identical checkering on the forearm and stock. Similar, but not identical engraving on the receiver. Slightly different top levers. Mine has a Monte Carlo stock with aftermarket adjustable comb and butt plate. His has the more “European” style stock and the original recoil pad.
His has obviously seen a lot less wear and tear, as mine has more worn bluing and the action is looser. So I asked the guy what year model his was. He said he didn’t know. I told him about the Italian Proof House stamp on the bottom of the monobloc. We took the barrel set out and took a look. “Wow” I said. “AT” just like mine.
That means the guns were proofed, and probably made, in 1988. I told him I bet the serial numbers are close. So he read off his serial number to me. I said, “you’re shitting me, right?” No, he said, why? “Because,” I said, “the serial number on my gun is 194077. These two guns came off the assembly line one after the other.” What are the odds?!?!?!
I bought mine used in the USA in 2005. He bought his used in South Africa. Wouldn’t it be cool to find out how the two of these guns came to be here?
Here's a similar tale. My favorite rifles are Winchester and Browning 1885 Single Shot High Walls. (Bet you thought I'd say AR15, huh?) The top gun in the pic is my.22-250. That was the first Browning I bought, because it was available. I really wanted the.223, but it was out of cycle for Browning production.
Well over a year later, the.223 went into production. I bought one (the bottom gun), and it quickly became my most used centerfire rifle. It has killed more critters than all my other guns combined. Very accurate. A couple of years later I heard Browning was discontinuing the High Wall in.223, and would instead only offer the.223 in the new Low Wall.
So figuring my 1885.223 High Wall had a good chance of being the only rifle I might actually wear out, I bought another.223 High Wall as a spare. Had my dealer order it, just as he ordered the first.223. When it showed up, it was consecutively serial numbered to mine. And the wood is nearly identical, and has to be from the same tree, probably the adjoining blank. The photo does not clearly show it, but the walnut looks like marble cake.
One time years ago, about 1973 or 1974, I went to Calif. To visit my Dad for a few days. My brother, Robbie(now deceased) lived in Oregon. There was a gun show at the Cow Palace, so we went.
This guy had a pair of mint Model 61 Winchesters for sale. But we couldn't buy them, cause I lived in Texas, and my brother in Oregon. So, we went back to the house and got Dad to go and get them for us at the Cow Palace. When we got home, it was then we realized that they were consecutive serial numbers. I still got mine. I don't know what happened to my brother's after he died.
A Model 61 is a Winchester pump.22LR.
